No words can describe the thrill and excitement of rafting down fast-flowing rivers and shooting the rapids. The initially calm waters are soon replaced by giant 10 feet tall waves thundering against your raft as you travel further down the rapids. Adventure seeking white water rafting enthusiasts will find an abundant supply of suitable rapids, mostly in Sabah, Sarawak and Pahang. Some time ago, rapids could be found in almost all shallow and murky rivers. Nevertheless, there are still many unspoilt sites to cater for this up-and coming sport. Recommended places in Sabah are the rivers in Papar and Tamparuli. Rafting downstream on these rivers is not only a delightful experience, but the picturesque beauty of the surrounding forest will surely charm you.   

The scenic splendour of Borneo wild rivers is worth the challenger. Padas River in Tenom is extremely turbulent and offers some of the roughest rapid you will ever encounter. Although recommended only for serious and professional rafting   

Enthusiasts, beginners may also supervision from experienced persons. The water level also heightens the level of excitement of rafting through the Padas gorge.   
  

Important Tips

  

Malaysia often records high amounts of rainfall. When it rains, the water level of rivers and rapids will increase and as a result, the current becomes swifter. There may be a slight delay or change of schedule to your itinerary as a result. Your host will consider the overall situation and the ability of the participants before  making a decision regarding the safety of your venture.
Listen to all instructions carefully. Rafting requires teamwork and each and every member of your team must adhere to all instructions to ensure a smooth and safe journey. One of the most important tips to keep the raft  from overturning when it straight. This can only be done  with a concerted effort from every team member.
It is important for each rafting enthusiast know how to swim  and one must be medically fir for such rigorous activities. If you are ever thrown out of your raft. Don't' panic. Let go of your paddle and keep your body straight. Swim to the nearest  embankment and wait for help.
